Description of Services: Crisis services to people who have experienced sexual assault and / or domestic violence * may include physical examination, treatment of injuries, medications to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, information on pregnancy, choice of completing the sexual assault evidence kit * emotional support * crisis counselling * safety planning * follow-up care

People are seen in a private room by specially trained sexual assault / domestic violence nurses to ensure confidential and sensitive treatment * police are not called unless the patient indicates this choice

**Guelph General Hospital is the designated sexual assault centre for the region

Fees: None
Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Sexual Assault services are offered to anyone who has been sexually assaulted regardless of age or gender * domestic violence services are offered to anyone who has experienced intimate partner abuse in the past twelve months
Application: For victims who have recently been assaulted, go directly to the Emergency Department and ask to see the sexual assault / domestic violence nurse * minimal wait (45-60 minutes) for the nurse on call to arrive
